Volunteers donate their time and talent to crochet and/or knit 4″x6″ and 7″x9″ afghan blocks or entire afghans. These block sections are sewn together by our staff. Individuals and groups in your area(s) can also assemble the blocks and send them directly to our office.
Volunteers are also encouraged to crochet and/or knit beanies and scarves and send them to us for distribution as well.
We chose these two (2) sizes for afghans as the 4″x6″ blocks will make the perfect size for a baby and the 7″x9″ blocks when sewn together will work well for children and adults.
It will take 20, 4″x6″ blocks to make a baby afghan and 49 blocks to make a children/adult 7″x9″ afghan.
Volunteers are also encouraged to make any afghans, beanies and scarves using our patterns or they are free to create their own.
If you would like to make an entire afghan yourself, we encourage you to do so. We welcome any color(s)! The sky is the limit – have fun!
Afghans, beanies and scarves will be distributed through various local and national community service organizations and to those who contact us with their specific needs.
We provide these items to those individuals living in:
- Veterans homes
- Women’s shelters
- Homeless shelters
- Others in need
Everyone can get in on the fun! If you are interested in volunteering to help those so that they are Knot Forgotten, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or click on our pattern page to get started.
